Netherlands blogger Michael van der Galien reports that a group of young Dutch Socialists will be flying here to campaign for Barack Obama:
… I received an e-mail I found quite interesting. The Jonge Socialisten asked me whether I would like to travel to America with them shortly before the U.S. elections in order to do ‘research.’
Now, before readers will think this would be a great opportunity for me to visit the country I write about so frequently, the trip had a specific partisan purpose despite it being described as ‘research’: They would travel to the United States to campaign for Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee for the presidency.
In fact, one of the demands of potential applicants is that they need to have a “great affinity with the Democratic Party and Barack Obama.”
Van der Galien offers some sound advice:
Perhaps these ‘Jong Socialisten’ should stop trying to influence the elections in other countries and, instead, do their best to fix the problems they created in this one.
Maybe they’ll hook up with the Obama Youth Marchers, Obama Children’s Chorus, and Obama Children’s Paraders.
Or stop by an ACORN office in Ohio and get registered to vote!
Every [socialist] voice counts in Obama World.
The young socialists are considered an anachronism for decades now in Holland and they are an eternal source for ridicule. compare their actions with that of your old aunt, the one who thinks eisenhower is president, and enjoy. we do !

It shall all good come, when Rita Verdonk travels off to the USA to help McCain. Maybe brings she a plane full of Telegraafreaguurders to hand out leaflets!

Concured with Redordead. Hardly anybody on the US left gives statist socialists and communists the time of day… they got left behind with the post-structuralism of the late 60’s French thinkers, never making the jump to the New Left. They still exist, but the various organized socialist groups have very small paper circulation figures, and even more pathetic membership counts.
As for Obama, this is just a guilt by one-way association attack. Obama didn’t ask for their aid… it was unilateral. McCain probably isn’t asking for some of the support he’s getting right now, either, this site VERY likely included. Also, I suppose they only support him in defacto because they’re so terrified of McCain, as that’s the American Left’s perspective on Obama.
If you alone already look at the picture of the young socialists! It is though not normal! If you knew not better you would think that they are national socialists!
What Frake says plus according to me are those guests in the middle totally not so young anymore.
